Moritz Gartenhauser

Moritz Gartenhauser (* before 1500 ; † summer 1550 ) was a Swiss governor , governor and delegate from the Canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden .

Life

Moritz Gartenhauser was Landammann of Appenzell. He ran an inn in Appenzell . From 1536 to 1538 he was governor in the Rhine Valley . Between 1537 and 1549 Moritz Gartenhauser was delegate to the Diet more than 50 times. For the first time from 1541 to 1543 and again from 1546 to 1547 he was Landammann. In 1536, 1542 and 1548 he led Appenzell troops in the service of the French King Franz I. From 1541 to 1542 Moritz Gartenhauser was Deputy of the Land of Appenzell in the so-called linen trade and in various deals with the St. Gallen Abbot Diethelm Blarer von Wartensee . From 1549 he was the federal mediator in border disputes between the bailiffs of Bellinzona and Lugano . Moritz Gartenhauser was one of the most prominent politicians in the state of Appenzell in the federal environment.
