Victor Fox

Victor Fox (* 2000 ) is a German jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , bass clarinet , composition).

Live and act

Fox, who grew up in Seligenstadt , has been playing the saxophone since he was nine years old; he was trained in the big band of the Seligenstadt music school and performed as a soloist in the chamber orchestra of the Seligenstadt town band in 2014. From 2011 to 2017 he was part of the State Youth Jazz Orchestra of Hesse . Between 2016 and 2018, Fox was the first tenor saxophonist in the Federal Jazz Orchestra , where he was by far the youngest musician since the formation of the formation. He toured with the orchestra through Ecuador, India and England in 2017 and is documented on their albums Cuban Fire (2016), Verley uns Frieden (2018) and 30 Years of the Federal Jazz Orchestra . Fox studied for a young graduated from the University of Mainz in Claudius Valk .

Fox has been working in the Trio First Circle with bassist Roger Kintopf and drummer Felix Ambach since 2014 . In 2015, the trio won the DLF Studio Prize and the UDJ Special Prize for their outstanding compositions at the national youth jazz meeting . In 2017, after their first album Conversations with the Unknown, the follow-up album GLÄÜÖ was released . He appeared in the Pascal Klewer Big Band with Peter Brötzmann , Evan Parker , Kit Downes and Christian Lillinger and was involved in the album Chasing Memories (2019). In the quartet Feed the Rich he played with Leandro Irarragorri on piano, Calvin Lennig on bass and Finn Wiest on drums. Furthermore, he forms a duo with Roger Kintopf ( silence I , 2019) and also belongs to his Quartet Structure , the Daniel Oetz Salcines Quartet and the Ensemble Nothing from Nightingales .

Prizes and awards

Fox won Victor Fox in 2014 the music competition of Sparkasse Langen Seligenstadt. In the same year he became state winner Hessen in youth jazz. In the following year he received a soloist award there and was also the youngest winner since the existence of the competition. In 2018 he was awarded the City of Seligenstadt's Culture Prize.
