Moritz Palatinate
Moritz Pfälzer (born August 17, 1869 in Hemsbach ; died March 8, 1936 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German lawyer and deputy chairman of the Upper Council of the Israelites in Baden .
Life
He was the son of the merchant Heinrich Pfälzer and his wife Malchen, née Gutmann. Moritz Pfälzer, who settled as a lawyer in Weinheim after completing his studies , was considered one of the most experienced lawyers in the Mannheim District Court. His clients were the companies Carl Freudenberg and the Badenia machine factory , at that time the largest Weinheim companies, as well as the Berckheim family and the city of Weinheim. In 1911 Moritz Pfälzer was appointed chairman of the Weinheim industrial court, the predecessor of today's labor court.
As chairman of the Jewish community in Weinheim , he led the procession on August 2, 1906 for the inauguration of the new synagogue at 5 Bürgermeister-Ehret-Straße. Moritz Pfälzer, who belonged to the progressive bourgeoisie, sat on the citizens' committee for the German Democratic Party (DDP) from 1926 until it was brought into line during the National Socialist era .
He was born in Strasbourg with Laura Martha. Elsner married. The daughters Gertrud Erika (born August 15, 1906) and Edith Luise (born March 15, 1909) emerged from this marriage. The family lived at Bürgermeister-Ehret-Strasse 10 in Weinheim.
Moritz Pfälzer was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Hemsbach (grave no. 1003).
