Moritz Ulrich I. (born October 3, 1699 on Kjørup; † July 25, 1769 in Wismar ) was Count and Lord of Putbus , Baron of Einsidelsborg , Kjørup and Boldewitz . He was President of the Wismar Tribunal .

Life

His parents were Malte I. zu Putbus (1671–1750), who was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1727, and Magdalene Juliane Countess of Promnitz (1666–1728). After the Pomeranian line of the Lords of Putbus died out, the father , who came from the Danish Podebusk line , inherited the Rügen estates.

Moritz Ulrich took his permanent seat in Putbus , enlarged the complex and the castle, which had existed for centuries: in 1723 he took over the management of the family property. From 1725 he had Putbus Castle Park laid out in baroque style and in 1726 a hunting lodge was built on the Tempelberg (at the time called Fürstenberg ) in the Granitz in front of the Granitzhaus (demolished in 1852). In 1730 he added a three-storey observation tower, called Belvedere , and also called a temple because of a wooden sculpture (demolished in 1810). In 1755 he ceded the indebted Putbus rule to his eldest son Malte Friedrich . In 1744 he acquired Boldewitz , which he sold again in 1762.

Moritz Ulrich was District Administrator in Swedish Pomerania from 1725 and was appointed Hereditary Marshal of Pomerania and Rügen by the Swedish King in 1728 . On June 14, 1731 he was raised to the status of a Swedish count. From 1733 to 1763 he was President of the Wismar Tribunal. In 1728 he was mentioned as a knight of the Order of St. John . He was also a Knight of the Seraphine Order .

Marriage and children

In 1724 he married Christiane Wilhelmine (born August 13, 1704 in Lübbenau ; † December 7, 1752 in Stralsund ), Countess of Lynar, daughter of Friedrich Casimir zu Lynar . Her children included:
