Moritz von Aberle

Moritz Aberle , from 1866 from Aberle , (born April 25, 1819 in Rottum , † November 3, 1875 in Tübingen ) was a Catholic theologian.

Life

Aberle was born and raised in Rottum, today part of the municipality of Steinhausen an der Rottum . From 1837 to 1841 he studied theology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen and was ordained a priest on August 29, 1842 . In 1845 he became a professor at the upper grammar school in Ehingen , in 1848 director of the Wilhelmsstift theological convict in Tübingen and from 1850 professor of moral theology and New Testament exegesis at the University of Tübingen. From 1865 to 1866 he was rector of the university.

As a moral theologian, he affirmed probabilism and, as an exegete, represented the method of modern biblical criticism .

Honors

In 1866 Aberle was honored with the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown , which was associated with the personal title of nobility.
