Moriz Schadek , also Moritz Schadek, (born August 28, 1840 in Horn , † May 31, 1928 in Vienna ) was a local poet from Lower Austria .

Life

Schadek studied law at the University of Vienna from 1859 to 1863 and worked as a court intern in the Waldviertel from 1862 to 1870 . From 1874 he had a position in the Commercial Court of Vienna, most recently as a higher regional judge.

Schadek worked early on for the magazines Fliegende Blätter in Munich and Der Zeitgeist in Vienna. He wrote numerous occasional poems, plays and operetta text books. His main works are the poems in Waldviertel dialect, which appeared in 15 volumes between 1886 and 1911.

Moriz Schadek saw his environment with his heart. His poems, which are pervaded by a gentle melody, sound beautiful and without sharp discrepancies. He is considered one of the great poets of the Waldviertel.
