Hovsep Aznavor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hovsep Aznavor (born May 21, 1854 in London , † late June 1935 in Cairo ) was an Armenian architect. Its iron construction of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church of St. Stefan von Fener in Istanbul is extraordinary.

Life

Hovsep Aznavor was born in London in 1854. His family moved to Constantinople in 1867. He finished his studies in Rome at the Academy of Fine Arts. Hovsep Aznavor performed various functions within the Armenian community in Constantinople as well as Cairo. He was a founding member of the Sahmanatragan Ramkavar , a party that became the Democratic Liberal Party (Ramkavar-Asatakan) in 1921 , one of the three great historical Armenian parties.
