Morty ghost

Solomon Mortimer "Morty" Geist (born January 4, 1928 in the Bronx , New York City ; † October 21, 2017 ) was an American jazz and entertainment musician ( tenor saxophone , clarinet ).

Live and act

Morty Geist attended New York's Juilliard School of Music and received a Masters from Columbia University's Teachers' College . He then worked with Art Mooney before playing in the backing band of singer Frankie Carle from 1950 . In the early 1950s he was also a member of the orchestras of Ralph Flanagan and Buddy Morrow , with whom he made records in 1953 and toured the New York area. Geist worked as a music teacher and supervisor of performing arts in public schools; most recently he lived in Springfield, New Jersey.
