Morty Trautman
Morton "Mort" or "Morty" Trautman (* 1925 or 1926 in Brooklyn ; † April 21, 2012 ) was an American jazz , theater and studio musician ( trombone ).
Live and act
Trautman was active in the New York music scene from the early 1940s; In 1943 he became a member of the local musicians' union. After completing his military service in World War II, he worked in big bands and appeared as a musician in nightclubs and hotels, such as the Waldorf-Astoria . He also worked as a theater musician on Broadway , as a session musician and accompanist for Yves Montand on his tour of the United States. The first recordings were made in 1956 with Larry Sonn's orchestra ( The Sound of Sonn , with Al Cohn , Hal McKusick ); In 1957 he played with Tito Puente ( Night Beat ; RCA) and around 1960 with Jerry Jerome .
In the mid-1960s, Trautman was also the musical coordinator for Solid State Records , overseeing big band productions by Joe Williams / Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra , Jimmy McGriff ( A Tribute to Basie ) and Manny Albam ( The Soul of the City ) . In 1968 he appeared in the Lou Levy Orchestra and Peggy Lee in New York's Copacabana Night Club ( Two Shows Nightly , Capitol). Furthermore, Trautman pursued a second career as a piano technician on cruise ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line .
