Moschofilero

The white wine variety Moschofilero ([ mɔsxɔˈfilɛrɔ ], Greek Μοσχοφίλερο ) is native within the regional district of Florina in the region of Macedonia and on the Peloponnese in the region of Arcadia . Although the skin of the berries is reddish to red in color, it is assigned to the white varieties similar to the Pinot Gris or the Gewürztraminer . The quality of the white wines , such as the quality wines from the Designation of Origin Mantinia , is good. The floral bouquet , determined by a light rose scent, suggested a relationship to Gewürztraminer or Muscatel . However, DNA analyzes could not reveal any relationship.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is slightly woolly hairy and slightly pink in color.
  • The medium-sized leaves (see also the article leaf shape ) are five-lobed and have a medium-deep curve. The stalk bay is open in a lyre shape (rarely also closed). The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth have a large distance in comparison to the grape varieties, but are only weakly pronounced. The leaf surface (also called the leaf blade) is blistered and rough.
  • The conical to cylindrical grape is medium-sized and quite dense. The round berries are also medium-sized and reddish to sometimes slightly purple in color. The berries have a pleasant, slightly aromatic taste.
