The Most 100-lecia Odzyskania Niepodległości Polski (Bridge to 100th anniversary of regaining Poland's independence) is a bascule bridge in Gdansk , built between 2017 and 2018. It connects Wiślinka (Wesslinken) and Sobieszewo (Bohnsack) on the Wyspa Sobieszewska over the DW501 voivodship road with the city of Gdansk.

history

The project planner was Europrojekt in Sobieszewo. In August 2016, the contract was awarded to the Polish-Czech consortium of Metrostav and Vistal in Gdynia . The contract was signed on September 2nd, 2016 and the groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 17th.

The preparatory work began on January 16, 2017, including the bank reinforcement, pile foundations, etc. On August 29, 2017, Vistal delivered the first structural elements of the bridge, which were prefabricated in the factory. The Conrad Goliath floating crane assembled 20 elements made of steel and concrete, each 25 meters long and weighing 25 tons.

Construction should be completed in 2017 and the opening after testing and approval was scheduled for the first quarter of 2018. However, Vistal Gdynia filed for bankruptcy in early October . The bailiff confiscated construction elements and only released them after a court decision. The moving parts of the structure were installed between July 16 and 20, 2018.

The bridge was opened on November 10, 2018. The mayor Paweł Adamowicz proposed her name to the Gdańsk City Council in August 2017.

description

The road bridge is 181.50 meters long. It has two lanes with a total width of 7.00 meters, a cycle path on one side with a width of 2.40 meters and a pedestrian path on the other side with a width of 2.00 meters. The two-part middle section spans 59.50 meters and can be opened in 150 seconds. The bridge is moved by counterweights underneath and a hydraulic system . This lifts the bridge off with a force of four meganewtons on each side. The rear arms are pulled into pillars, each 6.75 meters long. The four side panels of the bridge each span 25 meters. They are designed in VFT- WIB composite construction. A new roundabout was built on the island side .

Others

The previous structure was the longest pontoon bridge in Poland . It has been renewed several times. There were very long waiting times when a ship passed the bridge as the pontoons were swung sideways. Heavy trucks had to be transported by ferry .
