EA Motive Studios is a Canadian game development company based in Québec . The company was founded by Jade Raymond , a former Ubisoft employee best known for the video game Assassin's Creed . Their first announced project was to collaborate with Visceral Games , a former Redwood Shores- based subsidiary of Electronic Arts , which closed in October 2018. In January 2017, Electronic Arts announced that Kim Swift had been hired as Motive's design director.

Since the dissolution of BioWare Montreal in August 2017, the former employees have been employed by EA Motive Studios .
