Motoharu Yoshizawa

Motoharu Yoshizawa ( Japanese 吉 沢 元 治 , Yoshizawa Motoharu ; * 1931 ; † September 12, 1998 ) was a Japanese jazz bassist.

Live and act

Yoshiziwa was active as a jazz bassist since the 1960s. He worked with the Jun Yoshiya Group and the Eiji Kitamura Quintet and performed with Elvin Jones in Tokyo in 1966 . In the 1970s he began a career as a solo bassist and recorded three solo albums. He has also performed with musicians such as Derek Bailey , Steve Lacy , Keiji Haino , Barre Phillips , Keith Tippett and Fred Frith . In the 1990s he played on a five-string bass of his own construction.
