Motohiko Hamase
Motohiko Hamase ( Japanese 濱 瀬 元 彦 , Hamase Motohiko ; born April 15, 1952 ) is a Japanese jazz and ambient musician ( double bass , electronics).
Motohiko Hamase played in the Japanese jazz scene from the 1970s a. a. in the Isao Suzuki sextet, with which the first recordings were made ( Ako's Dream (1976), among others with Tsuyoshi Yamamoto and Kazumi Watanabe ). In the following years he also took part in the recordings of Takao Uematsu (Straight Ahead) , Mikio Masuda (Moon Stone) , Minami Yasuda (Moritato for Osada) and Kazumasa Akiyama ( Beyond the Door , 1979). In the field of jazz, he was involved in 10 recording sessions between 1976 and 1982. In 1987 the jazz album Anecdote was created (released in 1993, with Yasunori Yamaguchi , Toshio Kaji ).
From the mid-1980s he turned to ambient music; In 1986 he presented a first solo album (Intaglio) , followed by Reminiscence (1986) and Notes of Foresty (1988). He also directed the Motohiko Hamase ELF Ensemble (with Rei Shimizu, Katsutoshi Narisawa, Youichi Okabe, Naruyoshi Kikuchi, Katsutoshi Narisawa).
