Tsuyoshi Yamamoto

Tsuyoshi Yamamoto ( Japanese 山 本 剛 , Yamamoto Tsuyoshi ; born March 23, 1948 in Sado , Niigata Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz pianist (also e-piano , keyboard , synthesizer ).

Yamamoto, who is largely self-taught, studied at Nihon University and began to work as a professional musician during this time, mostly as a companion to the pop singer Micky Curtis, with whom he toured Europe in 1967. In 1974 he became the resident pianist of the Tokyo jazz club Misty and played his debut album Midnight Sugar ( Three Blind Mice ), on which he played with Isoo Fukui (bass) and Tetsujiro Obara (drums). In the late 70s he made guest appearances at international festivals and lived in New York City for a year, where he a. a. performed with Dizzy Gillespie , Carmen McRae , Sam Jones , Billy Higgins , Elvin Jones and Sonny Stitt . In the field of jazz he was involved in 66 recording sessions between 1974 and 2015, including a. also with Isao Suzuki / Sunao Wada , Yoshio Otomo , Koji Moriyama , Toots Thielemans , Lew Tabackin , Red Mitchell and the singers Minami Yasuda , Ayako Hosokawa , Anli Sugano , Sonia Rosa, Kumiko Tomoi , Takeo Umeo , Sumiko Yoseyama , Kimiko Itoh , Yasuko Agawa and most recently with Naoko Kuroda .
