Yasuko Agawa

Yasuko Agawa ( Japanese 阿川 泰 子 , Agawa Yasuko ; born October 16, 1951 in Kamakura , Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese J-pop , funk and jazz singer who had her greatest success in the 1970s and 80s.

Agawa began as a film actress and played supporting roles in the productions Chi o suu bara (1974), Weltkatastrophe 1999? (1974) and The Devil's Brood (1975). In 1978 she presented her debut album Love-Bird , on which she interpreted standards such as " Blue Moon ", " Someone to Watch Over Me " or "What a Difference a Day Makes". A series of albums followed until 2007, in which they u. a. by Kunimitsu Inaba , Shuichi Murakami , Takeru Muraoka , Seiichi Nakamura , Soichi Noriki and Tsuyoshi Yamamoto , at sessions in the United States and others. a. was accompanied by Richard Evans , Wilton Felder , Victor Feldman , Alan Kaplan, Bobby Lyle and Joe Sample . She played the album All Right With Me in 1984 with Nobuo Kato , Tommy Flanagan , George Mraz and Art Taylor ; the following year she recorded the album Melodies with Konosuke Saito , Takeru Muraoka, Sir Roland Hanna , Sadanori Nakamure , Ron Carter , Lewis Nash and Kenyatta Abdul-Rahman . Sergio Mendes co-produced her bossa nova album Ouro do Manaus (1988). The Ellington album My Duke was created in Los Angeles ; in the accompanying band played u. a. Snooky Young , Chuck Findley , Warren Luening , Chauncey Welsch , Gary Foster , Pete Christlieb , Jack Nimitz , Ron Eschete , Chuck Berghofer and Harvey Mason .

In 1989 she was featured in the television show Osharé 30/30 ; In the mid-1990s she appeared on the music and talk show BS Jazz Kissa . In the field of jazz, she was involved in 29 recording sessions between 1977 and 2001.
