Mount Alford is a 1480 m high and ice-free mountain with a flattened peak in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises on the south side of the Boggs Valley in the Helliwell Hills .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the Canadian geologist Montague Ewart Alford (* 1923), who was responsible for the United States Antarctic Program worked on the McMurdo station between 1967 and 1968 .
