Mount Augustana is a 2800 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the northern Cumulus Hills of the Queen Maud Mountains , it looms between the head ends of the LaPrade Valley and the Cheu Valley . Its northern slopes are rugged, largely ice-free and drop steeply 1500 m to the McGregor Glacier . Its southern part is covered with ice and tapers slowly towards the head of the Logie Glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 2008 after Augustana College in Rock Island , Illinois , in recognition of its long history of research into polar and glacial geology. The associated Fryxell Geology Museum houses fossils of dinosaurs of the genus Cryolophosaurus , the largest predatory dinosaur so far recorded in Antarctica .
