Mount Cornwell is a 2460 m high mountain in the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 3 km south of Mount Washburn on the northeast flank of the Newcomer Glacier in the northern part of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1961 after James W. Cornwell, lieutenant in the United States Navy's VX-6 squadron , who was a co-pilot during the flights to take aerial photographs of the mountains between December 14 and 15, 1959.
