The Mount Fox is a cinder cone that 100,000 years ago 75 km southwest of Inham in Queensland , Australia created, and today 120 meters over the terrain.

Emergence

A powerful volcanic explosion 100,000 years ago formed Mount Fox as it can be seen today. A lava flow ten meters thick flowed from the southern end of the crater, volcanic ash and glowing lava that formed volcanic bombs flew through the air. These bombs, of varying sizes, were more than three feet tall and shaped like bells. They can still be seen in the deposits today. As the lava cooled quickly, the gas was trapped in the volcanic material in the form of small bubbles. The shape of the crater is ideal, as is Mount Elephant in Victoria .

Today Mount Fox is partly overgrown and surrounded by eucalyptus .

location

The Mount Fox is in the Girringun National Park . The mountain can be reached through the Herbert River Valley in the Seaview Range via the marked Abergowrie Road from Trebonne .
