The American University of Madaba (AUM) ( Arabic الجامعــة الأميركيــة في مادبـا) is a Catholic private university based in Madaba ( Jordan ).

The university received the license to teach in 2005. Pope Benedict XVI inaugurated the foundation stone of the college on May 9, 2009 in the presence of Abdullah II bin al-Hussein , King of Jordan, on his trip to the Holy Land . By resolution of the “Superior Council of Education” in Jordan on May 29, 2011, the university operates as the “American University of Madaba (AUM)”. Lectures in English started in autumn 2011. The campus can accommodate up to 8,000 students and will employ up to 500 faculty members.

The Board of Trustees is the highest administrative body of the American University of Madaba. State recognition by the Jordanian Ministry of Education was granted in 2009 after consultations with the institution responsible for the university, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem . The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is the former Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sami Gammoh , and his deputy is Bishop Salim Sayegh . Victor Billeh is the founding rector .
