At 2610 m, Mount Harrington is one of the highest mountains at the eastern end of the Victory Mountains in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises 8 km southwest of Mount Northampton on the western flank of the Whitehall Glacier .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1960 after the geologist Hilary James Harrington (1924-2005), who between 1957 and 1958 a campaign of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition in this area and from 1958 to 1959 another in the region around McMurdo Sound .
