Mount Korovin is a volcano and the highest point on Atka Island , part of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska , United States .
The stratovolcano reaches a height of 1533 m with a base diameter of almost 7 km and is located in the northeast of the island of Atka. He has two chimneys in the area of the summit, which are about 0.6 km apart. The northwest vent forms a symmetrical cone with a small crater, while the southeast vent is only a remnant of a cone. The crater has a diameter of about 1 km and is at least several hundred meters deep. It has a turquoise-green crater lake in its lower area .
Historical records show explosive eruptions in 1812 and 1987 . The eruptions took place at the Sarichev and Kliuchev volcanic cones. The island of Atka is dominated by a large caldera , which was created 500,000 to 300,000 years ago in a powerful eruption. On the mountain flanks of the Kliuchev and a nearby glaciated valley there are some fumaroles and hot springs.
