Mount Lanning is a 1,820 m high mountain in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises on the south side of the Newcomber Glacier at a distance of 8 km southeast of Mount Warren in the northern part of the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1957 and 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1961 after Lieutenant Delmar L. Lanning of the United States Air Force , who helped build the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station from 1956 to 1957.
