The Mount Pilchuck is a mountain in Snohomish County in the State of Washington . It is 57 mi (92 km) northeast of Seattle and is part of the Cascade Range .

Mount Pilchuck is located in Mount Pilchuck State Park , but the area around it, including the starting point of the trail, is part of Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest . The mountain's Lushootseed name is bəlalgʷa. There is an agreement that the entire walk to the summit will be maintained by the United States Forest Service , even though it is within the state park . It is one of the most popular hiking trails in the area because of its easy access and panoramic views of the Cascades to the east and Puget Sound to the west.

At the top of Mount Pilchuck there is an old fire watch tower which is now used as a shelter for hikers . This watchtower is jointly maintained by Washington State Parks and the Everett division of The Mountaineers Union.

Every now and then the hiking trail is covered in snow until late summer.
