Mount Quilmes ( Spanish Monte Quilmes , in Chile Monte Pereira ) is a 715 m high and mainly snow-capped mountain on the West Antarctic Joinville Island . It rises northeast of Haddon Bay .
Participants in an Argentine Antarctic expedition carried out from 1953 to 1954 named him after a sea battle during the Argentine War of Independence. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1964. The namesake of the designation valid in Chile is the Chilean politician Julio Pereira Larraín (1907–1978), Chile’s Defense Minister from 1961 to 1963, who participated in the 16th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1961–1962).
