Mount Skidmore is a 865 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Coatsland . In the Shackleton Range, it rises on the eastern flank of the mouth of the Stratton Glacier .
Participants in the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) under the direction of British polar explorer Vivian Fuchs mapped it in 1957. Aerial photographs were taken in 1967 by the United States Navy . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1972 after the British geologist Michael J. Skidmore of the British Antarctic Survey , who was active on the Brunt Ice Shelf from 1966 to 1969 and in the Shackleton Range from 1968 to 1969.
