The Mount Steele is a 5073 m high mountain in the Saint Elias Mountains in the Yukon Territory in Canada . The mountain was named in 1900 by surveyor JJ McArthur after Col. SB Steele, chief of the Northwest Mounted Police in Dawson in 1899.
Mount Steele is about 59 km north of Mount Logan . The mountain is located in a ridge running in SW-NE direction. 11.6 km to the southwest is the higher Mount Lucania ( 5240 m ). North of Mount Steele, the Chitina Glacier flows in a westerly direction. The southern flank is also drained to the Chitina River via the Walsh Glacier and Logan Glacier .

The first ascent of the summit was made on August 15, 1935 by Walter Wood, Harrison Wood, Hans Fuhrer and Joseph W. Fobes.
