society

Latoundji moved in the summer of 1998 from FC Metz to Germany for the second division club FC Energie Cottbus . On the third day of the 1998/99 season he made his debut in German professional football when coach Eduard Geyer replaced him in the 87th minute at the home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth . He played 18 games in his first season and scored his first goal on the penultimate matchday. At the beginning of the following season 1999/2000 he was set as a regular player and scored one goal each in the first two games. By a red card on the fourth day of play, Latoundji had to pause three games, but was then back in the starting line-up and scored four more goals by the 14th day of play. On the following day he broke his metatarsus and did not return to the first team until the end of April 2000. In the last game of the season against 1. FC Köln , Latoundji stood on the pitch for 90 minutes and, with a 2-0 win, fought for Cottbus’s first promotion to the Bundesliga .

In the first first division season, Latoundji played 26 times. In the last game, in which Cottbus secured relegation by beating TSV 1860 Munich , he tore a cruciate ligament . This was carried off and so the midfielder missed the entire first half of the following season and only made four appearances in the second half. After recovery, Latoundji continued to play 25 Bundesliga games in the 2002/03 season. On matchday 29, he scored his first and only Bundesliga goal in the home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach . At the end of the season he was relegated with the Lausitzers.

In the first second division game after relegation, Latoundji scored a goal right at the beginning of the game and shortly afterwards tore the inner ligament so that he was out for three weeks again due to injury. Then he played again in the regular team and came to a total of 27 missions and four goals in the season.

Latoundji broke his kneecap in training camp for the 2004/05 season. He did not recover from this and ended his career as a sports invalid in the same year. In 2009 he made his comeback as a player-coach in his homeland of Benin at AS Dragons FC de l'Ouémé and finally ended his career in July 2010.

National team

Latoundji was a selection player for the Benin national team . He took part in the 2004 African Cup of Nations with Benin . Benin lost all three preliminary round matches and was bottom of the group. Latoundji scored the only goal of his team.

Trainer

Moussa Latoundji has a Trainer B license. For the 2007/08 season he was an assistant coach for the second team of Ludwigsfelder FC on the sidelines. From 2010 to 2011 Latoundji was a coach at USS Kraké in the Championnat National du Béni and was previously a player- coach at AS Dragons FC de l'Ouémé .
