The Mpassa (or Passa ) is an approximately 170 km long right tributary of the Ogooué in the central African state of Gabon .
course
The Mpassa flows through the province of Haut-Ogooué in the southeast of Gabon. It rises on the Batéké plateau on the border with the Republic of the Congo . It flows mainly in a north-westerly direction. The upper 80 kilometers are within or on the northern edge of the Batéké Plateau National Park . The Mpassa takes on several larger tributaries, including Letiti at river kilometer 147 from the left and Leteli at river kilometer 112, Lewou at river kilometer 52 and Djouori at river kilometer 46 from the right. At river kilometer 23 the Ndjoumou (or Djoumou ), the most important tributary, meets the Mpassa coming from the south. The Mpassa passes the provincial capital of Franceville 12 kilometers above the mouth . A few kilometers later it flows into the Ogooué.
The Mpassa is the namesake of the Mpassa department through which it flows.
