Mr. Skin is an English language website that specializes in finding female nudity in film and television . It is operated by Jim McBride, who also appears under the pseudonym Mr. Skin. The slogan of the website is "Fast-Forwarding to the Good Parts since 1999" "( English for " Fast forward to the good parts since 1999 ").

history

The website started in August 1999 with only two people involved: Jim McBride and a member of staff who was responsible for the technical work. Previously, McBride worked for a long time as a bank clerk and real estate agent . His experience with nude scenes in films dates back to his childhood. He himself describes the discovery of nude scenes by Lynda Carter ( Wonder Woman ) in the 1980 film Bobby Jo and the Outlaw as a key experience .

“Lynda Carter, 'Wonder Woman,' had four nude scenes in the first 33 minutes. I wondered, if Lynda Carter did nude scenes before she was famous, who else had done them? I've been on a quest ever since. "

Since then he has been collecting nude scenes from actresses and creating his own VHS cuts of the same. As Mr. Skin, McBride is a frequent guest on radio shows where he provides ratings and comments as an expert on nude scenes. He was invited to perform up to 22 radio appearances per week in 2009, including with industry greats such as Howard Stern or on the Playboy Morning Show.

Especially after its first appearance on the Howard Stern Show in 2000, the site recorded steadily growing visitor numbers and generated income from member contributions . In 2006 that revenue was $ 5.3 million. The number of employees also rose steadily and in the fall of 2007 was 45 in the office in Chicago 's Bucktown district . The site experienced a significant increase in memberships and page views in the summer of 2007 when it was featured in the movie Knocked Up . As a result, the monthly page impressions increased by 35% to around 7 million.

Content

The website focuses on capturing, editing and commenting on scenes in which actresses are seen nude in mainstream films. Pornographic productions are explicitly excluded ; only scenes from films with a maximum age rating of R are shown. Only nude scenes of female actors can be seen, male actors are not recorded. In addition to pictures and film clips, there is a blog with news and articles as well as its own video content and an annotated actress database.

From a legal point of view, the site is operated as a review site . This is to enable the use of the copyrighted extracts in accordance with the fair use doctrine . In purely practical terms, however, the company does not experience any legal problems from the rights holders. On the contrary, a lot of film studios work with Mr. Skin and use the platform as an advertising measure . In 2007, more than 75 film companies , including Universal Studios , Fox , Paramount and Lionsgate , are said to have supported Mr. Skin directly, for example by sending out trailers for films and DVDs.

In addition to the content mentioned, Mr. Skin offers a video-on-demand portal and has been presenting the Annual Anatomy Awards every year since 2000 with categories such as Nudecomer of the Year , Best Breasts or Best Foreign Film .

Currently (September 2016) the website offers more than 20,000 biographies on actresses as well as more than 30,000 recorded films and TV programs as well as more than 200,000 images and videos.
