Muhammad Hafez Ismail

Muhammad Hafez Ismaïl ( Arabic احمد إسماعيل على) ( 1918 - January 1, 1997 ) was an Egyptian officer and diplomat .

Life

According to the Syrian-Egyptian Defense Pact of October 1955, Ismail commanded the armed forces of the United Arab Republic . He was then accredited as Ambassador to the Court of St James’s from June 23, 1964 to December 20, 1967 . He then worked as ambassador in Rome until September 21, 1968 and in Paris until June 26, 1970 .

From March 16 to September 19, 1971, Ismail was appointed Minister of State to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then headed the Jihaz al-Muchabarat al-Amma until 1972 and in 1973 advised Anwar al-Sadat on issues of national security. From February 7th to 10th, 1973 in Moscow he agreed to arm the armed forces of Egypt for the Yom Kippur War and one day later he received a Red Army delegation in Cairo with Anwar as-Sadat .

Finally, Muhammad Hafez Ismaïl was appointed ambassador to Moscow from 1974 to April 8, 1976, before he was again active in Paris from April 28, 1977 to December 13, 1979.
