Muho Asllani

Muho Asllani (* 1937 in Bërdica, Shkodra ) is a former Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania (PPSh).

biography

After attending school, he first graduated from the Agricultural Technical Center in Shkodra and then studied between 1961 and 1964 at the Agricultural Institute, today's Agricultural University of Tirana ( Universiteti Bujqësor i Tiranës ). At the 6th party congress of the PPSh Asllani, who also became a corresponding member of the party college in 1968, was elected a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PPSh, although he was not a candidate for this body before. At the same time he was secretary of the party in Shkodra and thus representative of the local 1st secretary Prokop Murra during the following years .

On January 3, 1974, he was appointed first secretary of the PPSh in the Mat district , before some time later he became the first secretary of the party in the Kukës district . After working as Vice Minister for Agriculture between May 1976 and March 1979, Asllani was first Secretary of the PPSh in Burrel . Shortly thereafter, he was appointed 1st Secretary of the Shkodra Party.

At the 8th party congress of the PPSh he was elected a member of the Politburo of the PPSh in November 1981 . He was a member of this top leadership body of the Communist Party until he left in December 1990. At the same time, Asllani was first secretary of the PPSh of Durrës , the most important port in Albania. Asllani was thus a member of the leadership generation around Ramiz Alia after the death of Enver Hoxha in 1985.

Between 1982 and 1991 he was also a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) during the tenth and eleventh legislative periods .

In 1993, Asllani and nine other former high-ranking officials ( Besnik Bekteshi , Foto Çami , Vangjel Çërrava , Hajredin Çeliku , Lenka Çuko , Llambi Gegprifti, Qirjako Mihali , Pali Miska and Prokop Murra) were charged with enriching public funds. Because of these offenses, there was finally a court in Tirana to the following sentences to prison terms : Mihali and Gegprifti eight years Miska and Çuko each seven years Cami, Çeliku and Bekteshi of six years and Çërrava, Murra and Asllani five years.

In another trial against him in June 1996 , his defense lawyer pleaded innocent in relation to crimes against humanity under Articles 74, 67 and 25 of the Albanian Criminal Code. Other co-defendants were the former Politburo members Prokop Murra and Foto Çami , Gaqo Nesho, former 1st Secretary of the PPSh of Vlora and Tirana, Zef Loka, former Director in the Ministry of the Interior and Dilaver Benghazi, former Vice Minister of the Interior. In August 1996, the court was sentenced. Murra received 20 years imprisonment, Asllani and Loka 18 years, Nesho 16 years and Benghazi 12 years.
