Vangjel Çërrava

Vangjel Çërrava (* 1941 in Korça ) is a former Albanian politician of the Labor Party of Albania (PPSh).

biography

Çërrava, who performed functions in the economic sector within the PPSh, became a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) in 1978 and was a member of it from the ninth to the eleventh legislative period until 1991.

In October 1982 he became a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PPSh. In this function he also took part in the state funeral of Enver Hoxha in 1985.

In addition, he was elected as a candidate at the 9th party congress of the PPSh in November 1986 and finally in July 1990 as a member of the Politburo of the PPSh. He held this position until the PPSh was dissolved and the Partia Socialiste e Shqipërisë was founded in June 1991.

Between February 20, 1987 and February 2, 1989 he was also Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers in the government of Adil Çarçani .

In 1993, Çërrava and nine other former high-ranking officials ( Muho Asllani , Besnik Bekteshi , Foto Çami , Hajredin Çeliku , Lenka Çuko , Llambi Gegprifti , Qirjako Mihali , Pali Miska and Prokop Murra ) were charged with enriching public money. Because of these offenses, there was finally a court in Tirana to the following sentences to prison terms : Mihali and Gegprifti eight years Miska and Çuko each seven years Cami, Çeliku and Bekteshi of six years and Çërrava, Murra and Asllani five years.
