Hajredin Çeliku

Hajredin Çeliku (* 1927 in Peshkopia ) is a former Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania .

Life

In 1966 he became a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) for the first time and was a member of it in the sixth electoral term until 1970. In the following years he worked as a functionary of the party in the economic sector.

At the 8th party congress of the PPSh in November 1981 he was elected as a member of the party's Politburo . He was a member of this top management body until December 1990.

Between 1982 and 1991 he was again a member of the People's Assembly during the tenth and eleventh legislative periods .

On November 23, 1982, Prime Minister Adil Çarçani appointed him Minister for Mining and Energy in his government. Afterwards he was a member of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the PPSh between February 20, 1987 and February 2, 1989, before he was again a member of Prime Minister Çarçani's cabinet from February 2, 1989 to December 23, 1990 as Minister of Transport.

In 1993 Çeliku and nine other former high-ranking officials ( Besnik Bekteshi , Foto Çami , Vangjel Çërrava , Muho Asslani , Lenka Çuko , Llambi Gegprifti, Qirjako Mihali , Pali Miska and Prokop Murra ) were charged with enriching public funds. Because of these offenses, there was finally a court in Tirana to the following sentences to prison terms : Mihali and Gegprifti eight years Miska and Çuko each seven years Cami, Çeliku and Bekteshi of six years and Çërrava, Murra and Asllani five years.
