Besnik Bekteshi (politician)

Besnik Bekteshi (* 1941 in Shkodra ) is a former Albanian politician of the Party of Labor of Albania (PPSh).

Life

Bekteshi was a functionary in the business sector within the PPSh. At the 8th party conference of the PPSh in November 1981 he was first elected as a candidate for the Politburo of the PPSh .

On November 23, 1982 he became Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers in the government of Prime Minister Adil Çarçani . He held this position until February 2, 1989.

Between 1982 and 1991 he was a member of the People's Assembly ( Kuvendi Popullor ) during the tenth and eleventh legislative periods .

Finally, at the 9th Party Congress of the PPSh in November 1986, he was elected a member of the Politburo of the PPSh. He was a member of this top leadership body of the party until the party was dissolved and the Partia Socialiste e Shqipërisë was founded in June 1991. In addition, after a government reshuffle between February 2, 1989 and February 22, 1991, Bekteshi was Minister of Industry and Mining and Minister of Energy in the 3rd Çarçani government and thus successor to the previous incumbents Llambi Gegprifti and Lavdosh Ahmetaj .

In 1993 Bekteshi and nine other former high-ranking officials ( Muho Asllani , Foto Çami , Vangjel Çërrava , Hajredin Çeliku , Lenka Çuko , Llambi Gegprifti, Qirjako Mihali , Pali Miska and Prokop Murra ) were charged with enriching public funds. Because of these offenses, there was finally a court in Tirana to the following sentences to prison terms : Mihali and Gegprifti eight years Miska and Çuko each seven years Cami, Çeliku and Bekteshi of six years and Çërrava, Murra and Asllani five years.
