Ixtlahuacán is a rural municipality in the Mexican state of Colima . The name comes from Nahuatl and means desert place without trees and houses . The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the eponymous Ixtlahuacán .

geography

Ixtlahuacán borders the municipality of Colima to the north and east, and Tecomán to the west and south . To the southeast, Ixtlahuacán shares a small border with the state of Michoacán .

economy

Ixtlahuacán is mainly characterized by its agriculture (especially tropical fruits) and cattle breeding.

tourism

The tourist attractions include the stalactite cave in San Gabriel, the pre-Hispanic cemetery "Tumbas de Tiro" and the seaside resort "La Toma".
