Muriel F. Siebert

Muriel Faye "Mickie" Siebert (born September 12, 1928 in Cleveland , Ohio ; † August 24, 2013 in Manhattan , New York City , New York ) was an American stockbroker and manager . She was the first woman to join the New York Stock Exchange .

life and career

She started working there in December 1967 after paying $ 445,000 for a seat and receiving card number 2646. It wasn't until 1970 that Jane R. Larkin became a second woman on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

Mickie Siebert was President of Muriel Siebert & Co. In 1977 she became Superintendent of Banks of New York State. She later founded the Muriel F. Siebert Foundation. Since 2006 she was "Chairman and President" of Siebert Financial Corporation.

Siebert died of complications from cancer on August 24, 2013 at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
