The Murner See is a recreational body of water in the Upper Palatinate Lake District with an area of around 90 hectares . Although it is not as big and well-known as the Steinberger See , it is visited in summer by bathers, divers, water sports enthusiasts and campers because the banks have been recultivated. A lawn for sunbathing, a restaurant, a mini golf course and a camping site have been created. Right next to Lake Murner is the Brückelsee , which is used not only by bathers but also by sailors and divers.

history

Before being recultivated as a recreational body of water, Lake Murner and Lake Brückel were a mining site for lignite . As is customary in the entire mining area (today's Upper Palatinate Lake District), this was extracted in open-cast mining . The separation of the two lakes to Brückel- and Murner See was carried out afterwards by filling a dam with waste material. The flooding of the former lignite mines in the entire Upper Palatinate lake area was carried out by the rising groundwater after the dewatering was gradually discontinued and lasted around two decades.

In addition to the relatively well-known lakes in the region ( Steinberger , Murner and Brückelsee ), there are various others that are completely excluded from the leisure activities.

In 2010, as part of the tourism concept of the Upper Palatinate Lake District and the municipality of Wackersdorf, a 16 m high wooden observation tower was opened on the northwestern edge of Lake Murner , which is a new attraction in the lake area and is particularly suitable for bird watching.

Water quality

Although the Murner See, like all the lakes in the Upper Palatinate Lake District, has no direct inflows (pure groundwater lake), the water is very clean. The pH value of the water is in the acidic range, but there is already sparse vegetation in the shallow water areas. Divers report on individual fish such as B. a pike , several small perch and a 1 m long catfish .

Diving

On June 27, 2012, the Schwandorf District Office, which was last re-regulated on May 20, 2011, was re-regulated in the Murnee Lake.
