action

In 1375 in China: An embassy from Korea is on the way to Nanjing , the capital of the Ming Dynasty . Once there, the embassy is accused of espionage and murder and banished to the desert. In the desert, the prisoner caravan is attacked by warriors of the Mongolian yuan , who kill all the Chinese and leave the Koreans unmolested in the desert. However, the first envoy died in the fight, so those who remained decide to go back to Korea. On the way through the desert the second envoy dies, but first releases his slave Yeo-Sol, who proves to be an excellent fighter with the Guan Dao .

On their way home, the always quarreling group arrives in a village where a monk joins them and they meet the Yuan again. They have the captured Ming princess Bu-Yong with them. The Korean general Jung Choi decides to free the princess in return to raise the Koreans' reputation with the emperor and to still fulfill the mission. The group frees the princess from the yuan captivity and takes her to a Ming fortress on the coast. Pursued by the Yuan, they reach it, but have to find out that the fortress is orphaned and that they are now alone against the overwhelming power of the Yuan. The princess succeeds in saving a battle, but only one Korean survives the fight.

Reviews

“Very martial action film from South Korea, conceived as a gigantic epic. The numerous battle scenes are not used to make the combatants heroic, rather war is depicted as bloody slaughter. "
