Museum of the Battle of the Bulge, Clervaux
The Museum of the Battle of the Bulge Clervaux ( French Musée de la Bataille des Ardennes Clervaux , english Museum of the Battle of the Bulge Clervaux ) in the town of Clervaux ( Luxembourgish Klierf, Cliärref , German Clervaux ) in Clervaux Castle addressed mainly the Bulge , in Luxembourg launched and lasted from December 1944 to January 1945 and killed over 80,000 soldiers.
In addition to Clervaux, the areas around the cities of Bastogne , St. Vith , Rochefort , La Roche , Houffalize , Stavelot , Diekirch , Vianden and the southern eastern cantons were particularly affected by the war.
exhibition
The focus of the museum is the Ardennes offensive from an American, German and civilian point of view. The exhibition is located in the south wing of the castle on several storeys and includes exhibits that illustrate the importance of the Ardennes offensive for European history. The majority of the collection, consisting of documents, weapons and uniforms, is from private owners. The exhibition was redesigned and more vivid in 2017.
The visit to the museum at Clervaux Castle takes about 30 minutes (with a guide) and is generally chargeable.
The exhibition was conceived by curator Frank Kieffer together with the Cercle dʼEtudes sur la Bataille des Ardennes (CEBA).
