The Blaustein City Wind Philharmonic / Musikverein Cäcilia Herrlingen is a wind orchestra near Ulm in the Alb-Donau district .

history

The association was founded in 1922 as the music association “Cäcilia” Herrlingen and received the Pro-Musica badge in 2006 from Federal President Horst Köhler . On July 30, 2014, the name of the association was changed in an extraordinary general meeting in Blaustein's Wind Philharmonic / Music Association Cäcilia Herrlingen. The musical focus of the Wind Philharmonic is in the field of symphonic wind music . In addition to the spring concert in the Kornhaus Ulm and the Christmas concert in the Pauluskirche in Ulm , the annual program also includes participation in national and international competitions. In order to introduce children and young people to music, the association maintains its own music school, two wind classes , a pre-orchestra and youth orchestra.

From 2004 to 2019 the Blaustein City Wind Philharmonic was directed by Manuel Epli. Manuel Epli led the orchestra from the upper level (category 4) to the top class (category 6) and to 1st place in the 2016 German orchestra competition . For this performance he was appointed Honorary Conductor of the Blaustein City Wind Philharmonic at the 2019 Spring Concert.

Manuel Epli studied conducting at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory and at the Art and Music Academy of Arnhem, Enschede and Zwolle and graduated with a Bachelor of Music . He is completing a master's degree in conducting at the Mozarteum Music University in Salzburg . In July 2019, Manuel Epli left the Blaustein City Wind Philharmonic as musical director. Since then he has been working as a principal lecturer for conducting at the Upper and Lower Bavarian Music Association and is active as a lecturer, juror and speaker.

  • Competition of the Allgäu-Swabian Music Association, District 12 (Günzburg), 2011:
Highest level, "Participated with excellent success" (93 out of 100 points)
  • International Concert Band Competition Prague 2009:
Gold medal and 2nd place (469 out of 500 points), special price for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece, special price for the best conductor performance in the competition
