Patrick McDonnell
Patrick McDonnell (born March 17, 1956 ) is an American comic artist .
McDonnell began his freelance career, including as a draftsman for the New York Times from 1978 to 1993. In addition, many magazines such as Sports Illustrated , Reader's Digest , Forbes Magazine and Time published his illustrations. He drew the monthly comic strip Bad Baby for Parents magazine . In 1994 the comic strip Mutts began to be published . The main characters in the anthropomorphic stories are two pets: Mooch , the cat and Earl , the dog.
McDonnell and his wife live in Edison, New Jersey with their dog Peanut and their cat MeeMow . The Jack Russell Terrier Earl , who inspired the Mutts figure of the same name for 18 years , died in 2007.
