Mykola Plawjuk

Mykola Wassylowytsch Plawjuk ( Ukrainian Микола Васильович Плав'юк ; born June 5, 1925 in Russiw , Stanisławów Voivodeship , Poland ; † March 10, 2012 in Hamilton , Canada ) was a Ukrainian politician and writer.

Life

Mykola Plawjuk was 1966-1971 Vice President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress . From December 8, 1989 to August 22, 1992, Plavyuk was the last chairman of the board of directors of the Ukrainian People's Republic (President of the Ukrainian government in exile ). On August 22, 1992, he presented the insignia of the People's Republic of Ukraine to Leonid Kravchuk , the democratically elected President of the independent Ukraine, founded in 1991, and at the same time recognized them as the legal successor of the People's Republic of Ukraine. From 1979 to 2012 he was chairman of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists .
