Muschau ( Danish Musskov ), also Loit-Muschau , is a district of the municipality Loit in the fishing landscape in Schleswig-Holstein . The name means mouse forest in Danish mus (≈ mouse ) and skov (≈ forest , Germanized to -schau ). The place name Loit either refers to the Old Danish løgh for washing water or is a plural form of Old Danish * lyktæ for a description of an enclosure. An interpretation according to Old Norse laukr for leek is also possible .
geography
Muschau is located about 500 meters north of Loit in the northwest of the municipality of Loit. The Loiter Au flows west of Muschau and the B201 is to the east .
history
In the 19th century there were only a few cottages in Muschau . In the 20th century, Muschau in the Loit community developed into the second town center through numerous new buildings. In recent years the number of newly built houses has increased again significantly.
Others
Today the Loiter village community center Nies Spuk is located in Muschau. In addition, the Loiter oldtimer and agricultural machinery show takes place there every year.
