N. Raghavan

N. Raghavan ( Nedyam Raghavan ; born June 23, 1900 , † 1977 in Shoranur , Palakkad District , Kerala ) was an Indian diplomat .

Life

N. Raghavan was a barrister in British Malaya from 1928 to 1947 , where he was a member of the Indian Independence League . He was a member of the Council of Action of Indian Independence Movement . He was Minister of Finance and State Budget in the government of Azad Hind . From 1947 to 1948 he was consul general in Djakarta . From 1948 to 1950 he was ambassador to Prague . From 1950 to 1951 he was ambassador to Brussels and envoy to Luxembourg. From 1951 to 1952 he was ambassador in Bern and accredited to the Holy See and the Allied Commission for Austria in Vienna . From September 26, 1952 to October 2, 1955, he was ambassador to Beijing . During his tenure, the governments of India and China agreed the Panchsheel Treaty (Sanskrit, panch: five, sheel: virtue ), peaceful coexistence, which also includes the occupation of Tibet . From 1956 to 1959 he was ambassador to Buenos Aires and was accredited to the government in Santiago de Chile. From June 1959 to 1961 he was ambassador to Paris . In 1963 he made a lecture tour through Malaysia and Ceylon. From 1964 to 1965 he gave lecture tours in the United States of America, Japan and Southeast Asia.
