The New York Greek American Atlas Astoria Soccer Club (also called New York Greek American) is an American soccer team from New York City . The club plays in the semi-professional, nationally fifth class of the United States Adult Soccer Association affiliated Cosmopolitan Soccer League in the New York area. There the opponent is in the Derby New York Pancyprian Freedoms .

NY Greek American Atlas was founded in 1941 by Tom Laris, whose family came from Greece , and joined the New York German-American Soccer League , which was founded in 1923 and has been known as the Cosmopolitan Soccer League since 1977 and which these days belongs to the fifth highest level in US football .

In the early 1960s , the defender Alketas Panagoulias , who came with him from the Greek first division club PAE Aris Thessaloniki , joined the club and won the league for the first time in 1964. From 1967 to 1971 Panagoulias - who later became the national coach of the USA and Greece and who led Olympiacos Piraeus to multiple championship honors - served the Greek Americans as coach who won the championship three times again from 1968 to 1970. That qualified the Greek Americans for the National Challenge Cup , which they also won three times in a row during these years. Only Seattle Sounders FC should be able to win this cup three times in a row between 2009 and 2011. In 1974 the Greek Americans won the National Challenge Cup again. In 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2012 he won titles in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. In 2014 the club won the National Amateur Cup held by the United States Adult Soccer Association with a 4-2 final win in Salt Lake City ( UT ) over Guadalajara FC from Denver ( CO ) .

In 1968, 1970, 1986 and 1989 the Greek Americans represented the USA in the Concacaf Cup , and were eliminated in the second round in 1968, but otherwise in the first round.
