The N1 (also RN1 ) is the most important trunk road in Burkina Faso . It connects Ouagadougou with the second largest city Bobo-Dioulasso . The trunk road is 355 kilometers long.
On the outskirts it originally had two lanes in each direction and became a single lane in the center of the city. In 2009 it was upgraded with a long, two-lane bridge to a freeway-like, intersection-free road. It is still classified as a trunk road, as there is no classification as a motorway in Burkina Faso.
