The NAG V8 is a luxury car that the Berlin automobile manufacturer NAG presented at the International Motor Show in Berlin in February 1931 . It was the first German production car with eight-cylinder - V engine .
The NAG V8 Type 218 was available as a Pullman limousine, Pullman convertible or four-door convertible. The two-door sports convertible was called the NAG V8 Type 219 . Only 50 of the very expensive vehicles (14,000–22,500 RM ) left the factory in Oberschöneweide by 1934 .
description
According to the ideas of NAG chief designer Paul Henze , the new models should actually have front-wheel drive . The Voran patents were used for this, and this is how some prototypes of a NAG-Voran V8 Type 212 were created . Its production would have been even more expensive than that of the two types 218/219 with rear-wheel drive .
The 100 hp vehicles had an eight-cylinder V engine with a displacement of 4.5 liters , a 90 ° bank angle and OHV valve control . Like the six-cylinder models, the vehicles had U-profile pressed steel frames with two rigid axles, suspended from semi-elliptic leaf springs at the front and from Underslung semi-springs at the rear . The rear wheels were driven by a ZF "Aphon" four-speed gearbox with center shift .
Trivia
A NAG Type 219 from 1932 was auctioned by Christie's on May 22, 1997 for DM 169,600 .
