The NATO Communications and Information Systems Services Agency (NCSA), in short: NATO CIS Services Agency , was an agency of NATO as a subordinate organization based in Mons (Belgium) and served to operate and protect the information and communication infrastructure of the Alliance.

history

The NCSA was formally founded from previous organizational elements of NATO, including the NATO Communication and Information Systems Operating and Support Agency (NACOSA), on August 1, 2004 and with an activation ceremony at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) on September 7 Activated in 2004. It existed until June 30, 2012.

The NCSA was part of the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Organization (NC3) and reported to the NC3 Board, an advisory body to the North Atlantic Council .

As part of a NATO reform, the NATO Communications and Information Systems Services Agency was transferred to the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) in 2012 .

    • NATO Communications and Information Systems School (NCISS), Latina (Italy)
(1) Sectors emerged from the earlier "Regional Signal Groups" of the NATO main quaters and were accordingly planned in Brunssum, Norfolk, Naples, Lisbon, Izmir, Mons, Northwood, Heidelberg, Madrid and Ramstein.
(2)Two deployable multinational telecommunications corps, the 1st NATO Signal Battalion (NSB) established in Maastricht in 2004 and the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion in Naples. These battalions were administratively subordinate to the director of the NCSA, for operations (OPCOM) to SACEUR. You were sent to Afghanistan , Kosovo and Iraq , among others .

The NATO Information Security Technical Center (NITC), which was responsible for communications and computer security, was located within the NCSA headquarters

In addition to the NCSA, the NC3O also included the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A) with locations in The Hague (Netherlands) and Brussels (Belgium). This agency supported NATO in the areas of research, development, experiments, project management and procurement and - like the NCSA - was transferred to the NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) in 2012 .
